A beautiful antique 11-volume collection from The Library of Historic Characters and Famous Events was published in Boston by the Art Library Publishing Company in 1905. Noted as The Library Edition. Edited by A.R. Spofford, 6th Librarian of Congress (1864-1897).
These are perfect for reading and for home decor staging of bookshelves!
Volumes have red buckram bindings with paste-down title boxes on the spine with gilt lettering. Black-and-white frontispieces and gilt page tops. Illustrated with photogravures from paintings by great artists and from authentic portraits.
The collection is in good condition with a small bit of age-related wear and marks to covers. The spines have some wear at the top and the bottom but are tight. A few volumes have page folds/wrinkles.
The set measures 17" across, is 9.5" tall, and 6.5” front to back.
