Eight volumes from the 1910 Harvard Classics Shelf of Fiction  in blue.   Included are English and American Essays, works of Homer, and Works of Dana,  among others.  Published in New York by  P.F. Collier in 1910,   these books measure 11.75" across and are  8" tall. Books are the exact books as pictured and are blue  edge-to-edge for vertical and horizontal display.

In 1909 the President of Harvard University, Dr. Eliot, made claims that one could get a quality education by reading from three-feet-shelf of classics for 15 minutes a day, later changing it to five feet. Collier & Son challenged Dr. Eliot to create such a collection, the first collection of which was published in 1909. These Harvard Classics Shelf of Fiction would make an elegant addition to bookshelf decor and staging.
